ICYMI: Tha’ Block Party Pride & Arts Festival
On June 30, 2023, we hosted our first Pride & Arts Festival in downtown Wheaton. Young leaders from the MoCo ReConnect Drop-in Center created and organized this event, where we celebrated young people, art, and Pride.
MoCo ReConnect values the voices of young people. Our Youth Action Board (YAB) – a group of community leaders in their late teens and early 20s – helped design the Drop-in Center, and they provide ongoing guidance and decision-making to help shape and strengthen the center’s programs and services.
MoCo ReConnect is operated by the Montgomery County Collaboration Council for Children, Youth and Families.
Programs and services are provided in partnership with the Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) and Sheppard Pratt, so you may interact with staff from all three organizations when you visit the Drop-in Center.
MoCo ReConnect Ribbon Cutting
The Drop-in Center opened on June 22, 2022. This short video from the ribbon-cutting event features County Council President (then Vice President) Evan Glass talking about what the center offers and why it’s so important.
